DOUGLASS (Made in Japan)

A Legendary Masterpiece Revived in Japan
The Douglass lighter, originally born from American creativity and craftsmanship, has been resurrected in modern times through the advanced technology and craftsmanship of Japan.

History
A Lighter that Defied the Changing Times
The Douglass lighter, created in the United States in 1926, is a product that many people likely never knew about until now. Unlike well-known brands that have continuously left their mark on history, the Douglass lighter's journey was unfortunately cut short, and the company ceased operations halfway through its potential.

However, history often overlooks certain masterpieces, and the Douglass lighter is no exception. Despite its high level of craftsmanship and quality, it was forgotten for many decades.
According to a 1927 catalog from the renowned American retailer Sears, Roebuck & Co., the Douglass lighter was listed at a price of $5, while other lighters were being sold for just 69 cents in the same catalog. This striking price difference made the Douglass lighter a symbol of status for its users.
The 1920s and 1930s in America marked an era of rapid industrial advancement, where mass production became the norm. However, analysis of the original Douglass lighter reveals that much of the technology embedded within it remains difficult to replicate even today through mass production. It was, in every sense, a product born from pure craftsmanship.
